Holloway

Services for Elizabeth Schmidt Holloway, 83, or Rockdale were held Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Peace Luthera n Chu rch in Rockdale with Rev. Jan Campbell officiating. Bur ial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.

Holloway Holloway Mrs. Holloway died Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.

She was born July 12, 1927, in New Braunfels to Edmund C. Schmidt and Myrtie (Garner) Schmidt.

She married Jesse Eugene Holloway on Aug. 12, 1961, at Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts.

Mrs. Holloway had been a Rockdale resident since 1961.

She was a homemaker and was also a librarian and teacher in Buckholts.

Mrs. Holloway was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale.

She was elected to the Rockdale School Board and served as the first female member. She was on the board for eight years and held the office of president.

Mrs. Holloway was an active member of Richards Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Friends of the Library, the Reading Club and Delta Kappa Gamma.

She was preceded in death by her parent; her husband, Jesse Eugene Holloway; an a brother, Edmund Schmidt.

Survivors are a son, David Eugene Holloway of Los Angeles, California; a daughter, Pamela Jane Browning and husband Randy of Sugar Land; three grandchildren, Justine N. Browning, Kristen Elizabeth Upchurch and husband Chad, all of Sugar Land, Jessica L. Browning of Austin; and two great-grandchildren, Avery Upchurch and Landon A. Upchurch.

Pallbearers were Dan Baldridge, Justin Browning, Terry Browning, Eloy Escobedo, Bob Holloway, Shane Schmidt and Chad Upchurch.
