City bans ‘synthetic marijuana’
4-1-1 council vote ends (for now) squabble over Chamber of Commerce records
It may be fake marijuana but there are now real penalties for possessing it in Rockdale.
City Council members Monday voted unanimously to ban synthetic marijuana, an increasingly popular substance in current drug culture and one that has already appeared in town, according to Police Chief Thomas Harris.

Rockdale High School’s annual homecoming parade was set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, assembling downtown near First Baptist Church (behind The Reporter).

Local rebates still declining
County reimbursement down over 17% from ‘09
Sales tax rebates for most local taxing entities were down for the month of September, the Texas Comptroller’s office reported.
C it y of Ro c kd a le’s r ebate declined 10.3 percent from a year ago, much better than the 17.9 percent decrease between Sept. 2008 and Sept. 2009. Full Story
VistaCare’s Goodwin named CNA of the year
As she celebrates her 15th year of service with Temple’s VistaCare Hospice, Certified Nursing Assistant Dana Goodwin is also being honored being honored on a national scale.
Goodwin was recently named the CNA of the Year by the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses (NBCHPN). Full Story
