Eastside Tutoring sets open house Sept. 27th
Eastside Tutoring/Resource Center invites the public to an open house from 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at New Hope Baptist Church, 327 East 3rd Street, according to Willie Phillips, chairman.

P&Z board re-zoning action ahead Thursday
The Rockdale Planning & Zoning Commission has scheduled a public hearing, and a vote, on a request to rezone part of North Ackerman and North Main Streets to residential.
Meeting is set for 2 p.m. Thursday. The property had been rezoned commercial last year to accommodate an antique store which has now closed. Full Story
City of Thorndale holds tax rate hearings
THORNDALE—City council members in Thorndale held public tax rate hearings Sept. 8 and Monday.
City Secretary Denise Melde said the council plans to adopt the 85-cent tax rate, the same as this year, at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 22 at City Hall. Full Story
Thorndale school board names TASB delegates
THORNDALE—School trustees in Thorndale, meeting in regular session Monday, named trustees Ann Glenn and Dave Denny, respectively, as delegate and alternate for the Texas Association of School Boards delegate assembly on Sept. 25.
Board members scheduled the district’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) meeting for 7 p.m. Oct. 11. Full Story
