Stolen vehicle nets arrest by police

A 26-year-old Louisiana man was arrested Sunday in connection with a vehicle reported stolen in that state.

Steven Joseph Guidry, 26, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Bond was set at $3,000 and he remains in custody.

Lt. J. D. Newlin said Ofc. Dale Bekker stopped a vehicle just after 8 p.m. Sunday on a traffic offense.

“It turned out to have been reported stolen in Louisiana,” Newlin said.

ARRESTS—< /BOL during the past week included one each for misdemeanor marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, two for assault by contact, three on Rockdale Police Department warrants and two on traffic offenses.

OFFENSES— Police investigated two attempted break-ins during the week, one each on Cordova Drive and Mill Street.

Other investigations during the week included disregarding a traffic control device, driving while license invalid and several other traffic issues.

WRECK— Vehicles driven by Lorraine Currie of Rockdale and John Cearley of Milano were in collision at 6:51 a.m. Sept. 8 at the intersection of Cameron and Main (US 79 and FM 908).

Damage estimates were not available from police.

CITATIONS— Citations issued during the past week included 24 for speeding, five for disregarding official traffic control advice, four for no valid MVI sticker, three for expired registration and one each for no liability insurance and driving the wrong way in a designated lane.

One citation was issued for possession of drug paraphernalia.

SERVICE CALLS— Officers responded to 145 total calls for service during the week, including 104 through the 911 system.

A reward of up to $1,000 may be paid for information leading to arrest and conviction.
