‘PICKIN’ AND POLITICS—Not every band at a political rally has an incumbent elected official but this one did. Milam County Democrats gathered Saturday at Rockdale’s Fair Park for an afternoon of barbecue, music and political speeches. The band Straight up featured Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Chip Dunsmoor on drums and (L-R) Glen Schneider, bass; Paul Schlesinger, fiddle; David Buchanan, sax; Ray Tesmer, lead guitar. The event featured speeches by county and state candidates including lieutenant governor hopeful Linda Chavez-Thompson.
