REMEMBERING 9/11—

REMEMBERING 9/11—Saturday was the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks which claimed almost 3,000 lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and outside Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Sept. 11 is now known as Patriot Day. There were no formal observances in Milam County but many places commemorated the day by flying their flags at half mast. Those included, appropriately, the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department’s fire station, Bell at Wilcox.
