......Funeral services for Sharon Cornelius, 50, of Rockdale were held Friday, Sept. 10, 2010 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Rev. Lance Richard officiating of Lexington United Methodist Church officiating. Burial followed in Lexington Cemetery.

Mrs. Cornelius died Tuesday, Sept. 7, at her home.

She was born Sept. 15, 1959, in Houston to Waymon and Dorothy (Rutland) Clare.

She married Thomas Cornelius on Nov. 20, 1998, in Rockdale.

Mrs. Cornelius was an LVN and had worked at Hennesey Nursing Home in Giddings and Renaissance Villa in Rockdale. She had been retired for the past seven years.

She was a Rockdale resident for the past 14 years, moving here from Lexington.

Mrs. Cornelius enjoyed camping.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carrie Elizabeth Knippa; her mother, Dorothy Elizabeth Rutland; and a brother, James Lee Forman.

Survivors are her husband, Tom Cornelius of Rockdale; a son, Jeremy Wayne Knippa and wife Zoe of Humble; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Avery Knippa of Humble; her father, Waymon Clare of Caldwell; her maternal grandmother, Mary Todd of Rockdale; a brother, Darrell Wayne Clare of Lexington; and a sister, Barbie Elizabeth Banks of Lexington; also, a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Edric Solomon, Eric Banks, Charlie Banks, William Fontaine, Heath Gibson and James Foreman Jr.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
