Jones

Lillian Bacy Jones was born June 10, 1928, in Rockdale to Henry and Jennie Bacy.

She graduated from Aycock High School in Rockdale, Prairie View A&M University and Texas Women’s University School of Nursing.

Mrs. Jones was a registered nurse and had worked at Jefferson Davis Hospital and Houston Veterans Administration Medical Center.

In 1984, she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society of nursing. After 28 years of service to the VA Hospital, she retired as psychiat- ric nursing supervisor.

Mrs. Jones was a life member of the National Alumni Association of Prairie View A&M.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and had served on the trustee board, administrative board, stewardship committee, United Methodist Women, Church Women United, health and welfare representative and the Second Family Care Team.

On Feb. 2, 1951, she married Frank A. Jones and shared 38 years together until his death in 1989.

They raised three children, Ronald W. Jones, M.D. (deceased), Jeania J. Mitchell of Houston and Sylvia Jones of Atlanta, Georgia.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Paralee Timmes, Allie Mae Goodley, Irvy Lee Bacy, Claudia Mae ..

Rosser, Willie Ray Bacy, Yvonne Alonzo and Lawrence Walton Bacy.

Other survivors are a son-inlaw, Ricky E. Mitchell; grandchildren Antonii Henderson, Morgan Mitchell and Marcus Mitchell; two sisters, Marion Stowers and husband Johnny of Houston, Johnnie Ruth Parker of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and three sisters-in-law, Eletta Bacy and husband Irvy, Ella Bacy and husband Lawrence, Ruth Bacy and husband Willie Ray; also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
