Lady Tigers net a pair of wins in Madisonville

Reporter/ Cliff Dungan The Rockdale Lady Tigers met their match on the road Tuesday night with a 25-10, 25-18, 25-12 loss to Austin Anderson.

The Lady Tigers stand 6-13 on the season.

Hailey Offield paved the way with six digs, while Krista Phillips walloped three kills and Bailey Pannell and Katie Strelsky served two aces apiece.

Playing before the Battle of the Bell Friday, Rockdale was tripped up by Cameron 25-12, 25-9, 25-12 in straight sets.

Against the No. 6 ranked Lady Yoemen, Jill Young pulled off five blocks and three kills, Marissa Mireles had five digs, Victoria Drake three assists and Pannell and Morgan Fischer served up aces.

In the Madisonville Tournament, the Lady Tigers bested the Bryan Rudder junior varsity 25-16, 25-18 and Navasota 25-18, 25-19.

Versus Rudder, Pannell scored with three kills and an ace.

Against Navasota, Drake worked for seven digs, while Phillips blasted five kills and Strelsky three aces.

Rockdale hosts Schulenburg Friday and then Taylor Tuesday before kicking off district play against Caldwell Sept. 24.
