Tiger cross country team runs for teammate Bailey

Bailey Bailey After the death of team member Justin Bailey, the Rockdale cross country team voted to run to honor him Saturday in Lexington.

“We wor e black ribbons and dedicated the team efforts to Justin,” said Coach Liz McQuitter. “It was a very emotional week and meet after the loss of their teammate. I was proud of their efforts, their focus and determination to run for Justin. We will dedicate the remainder of the cross country season to Justin.”

His teammates responded with the varsity boys taking fifth, including a first place finish by Juan Rubio (17:11.93) and fourth by Jacob Gerren (18:04.01) in a very competitive field.

Benito Castillo and Henry Hill, who have run varsity and JV in the past, responded with a great effort as did the girls who participated, Emily Norris, Sylvia Avila, Aubrie Litchauer and Courtney Reynosa .

Yecenia Guzman and Sara Johnson competed for the girls JV.
