Milano hosts Fall Fest activities on Saturday
Milano’s annual Fall Fest unreels Saturday with auto, tractor and motorcycle shows, a garage sale, tractor pull, gospel fest and a senior citizen country jamboree.
The garage sale actually begins Thursday and opens at 8 a.m. each day through Saturday in the Milano Civic Center. Full Story
Eastside Tutoring sets open house Monday
Eastside Tutoring/Resource Center invites the public to an open house from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at New Hope Baptist Church, 327 East 3rd Street, according to Willie Phillips, chairman.
“We hope both parents and students will come out and meet the tutors, other teachers and school personnel and other volunteers,” Phillips said. Full Story
‘Ride for the Cure’ planned here Oct. 23
The first annual “Ride for the Cure” benefitting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23 at Cliff’s Tavern in downtown Rockdale.
“The ride is for motorcycles, hot rods and antique cars but all vehicles are welcome,” said Pam King, organizer. Full Story
First ‘Stash the Trash’ day ahead Nov. 13th
The City of Rockdale has decided to host two cleanup days per year, instead of one, and the first “Stash the Trash” Day will be held Nov. 13 at Fair Park.
City Mgr. Kelvin Knauf said the cleanup events are being moved to Fair Park from city facilities. Full Story
Final summer family food event on Friday
The final summer distribution of family food boxes this season is set for 9 a.m. Friday at 811 Burleson, according to Denise Sifuentes, spokesperson.
“Capital Area Food Bank, out of Austin, will bring the boxes for families which have children under 18 living in the household,” she said.

‘Make a Difference’ Week is Sept. 20-24
Sept. 20-24 is Make a Difference Week in Rockdale, according to Genie Newton, coordinator of Rockdale’s Retired Senior Volunteers Program (RSVP) and Carolyn Cooper, senior center director.
