Fall Fest this weekendMake your plans to be in Milano on Saturday for the annual Milano Fall Fest. There will be many activities to see, including car, tractor and motorcycle shows, quilt show, Milano VFD Ladies Auxiliary garage sale, mini-rod tractor pull, Gospel Fest, Senior Citizens Country Jamboree and much more.
Registration begin at 8 a.m. for the car, motorcycle and tractor shows. The MVFD Ladies Auxiliary garage sale actually runs Thursday through Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. each day in the Milano Civic Center. The Texas Modified Tractors Pullers Association will hold a mini-rod tractor pull from 1-5 p.m. across from the civic center.
The Gospel Fest will get underway at 3 p.m. behind the Milano First Baptist Church. A free cowboy stew and cobbler supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. The Milano senior citizens group will hold its monthly jamboree at the civic center, starting at 6:45 p.m.
Friends of the Bailey Bank Building will be selling memorial bricks and cookbooks during the day inside the old brick structure. The City of Milano will sell Milano Fall Fest caps and T-shirts as well. Caps are $15 each and shirts are $10, with 2X and 3X being $12.
Other things available to do that day will include flint knapping demonstrations, browsing numerous arts and crafts booths and eating at various organizations’ food booths. No alcoholic beverages will be allowed. There is no gate or admission fee. This is a fun, free, family event.
Milano Evening Lions Club has their 2010 fund-raiser going on at this time. Tickets are $2 each or five for $3. Prizes are Walmart gift cards in the amounts of $350, $150 and $50. Drawing will be held Friday, Nov. 5.
Cameron A rea Chamber of Commerce is selling a limited edition commemorative Treasured Scenes three inch Christmas ornament that depicts the 1892 Milam County Courthouse. The annual reunion for former Milano ISD students is set for Saturday, Oct. 23 in the Milano High School cafeteria. A barbecue meal by The Crossing will be served at noon for $10 a plate. For more information, contact Carolyn Yoakum Vinton at 512-455-2473 or email@example.com.
Got word that Roger Hashem is at home and is continuing to recover from his stroke.
Valery Beard is also recovering well from her broken leg and blood clot.
