Cowboy Church ‘ranch rodeo’ Saturday at park
Milam County Cowboy Church will host a ranch rodeo beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Fair Park arena, according to Tish Todd, spokesperson.

Thorndale sets 2010 tax rate at 85 cents
THORNDALE—City council members in Thorndale left the tax rate at 85 cents last Wednesday when they met in regular session at City Hall to adopt a tax rate for 2010.
That’s the same as the 2009 rate.
Council members adopted Thorndale’ 2010-11 budget and amended the 2009-10 budget. Full Story
‘Ride for the Cure’ planned here Oct. 23
The first annual “Ride for the Cure” benefitting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23, at Cliff’s Tavern in downtown Rockdale.
“The ride is for motorcycles, hot rods and antique cars but all vehicles are welcome,” said Pam King, organizer. Full Story

‘Fall’ arrives with cooler temperatures
“Fall” arrived in Rockdale Monday morning. The question is will it stay that way?
The season’s first cool front dropped the temperature to 53 degrees just before sunrise Monday.
That’s the lowest temperature recorded in Rockdale since a 52- degree reading April 27.

Yield to pedestrians in school crosswalks
Rockdale police are reminding drivers around Rockdale Elementary School, especially on Bowser Street, to yield to pedestrians at marked crosswalks.

Gas odor gets RVFD out Tuesday night
The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department checked out a report of a natural gas odor at Richards Memorial Hospital on Tuesday night.
Firefighters responded at 10:27 p.m. and checked out the hospital’s

Construction to start on Buckholts station
Construction on the new Buckholts Fire Station is scheduled to begin Wednesday and be finished in time for a 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, dedication ceremony.
