Make cemetery upkeep a higher priority

Dear editor,

It is with a sad heart that I must write this letter of concern with the hope that I can be a voice for others, as well.

Family members recently returned home to pay respects to deceased loved ones and found Oak Lawn Cemetery in deplorable condition.

Waist-high grasses/weeds prevent visual and physical access to gravesites and cause considerable heartache.

I did speak with the City Public Works Director who was sympathetic.

However, “a budget issue” as an excuse is unacceptable.

I would like to ask the city council to please take this under advisement and make the cemetery a priority out of respect to those who rest there and family members who love them.
