Fifth 5K grosses 3K for The Kay
RHS cross country team members win overall honors
The fifth annual Kay Theatre 5K Run/Unrun grossed $3,000 toward restoration of the Rockdale landmark as about 60 persons participated in the event Saturday.
That means the event has raised about $43,000 in its four-year history. The previous three runs netted a combined $40,000. Full Story

A full house attended an open house Monday at New Hope Baptist Church as the Eastside Tutoring Program, now in its 20th year, began another school year. The group was welcomed by board president Willie Phillips and addressed by RISD Superintendent Dr. Howell Wright (left) who implored the young students to continue the program when they are older. Annual Deanville VFD barbecue, auction fund-raiser set October 10
DEANVILLE—The Deanville Volunteer Fire Department will hold its 33rd annual fund-raiser on Sunday, Oct. 10 at the fire station, corner of FM 111 and Hwy 60 in Deanville.
Pit barbecue (pork, beef, chicken, homemade sausage and red ring sausage) will be ready for sale at 7 a.m. Plate lunches of fried chicken with all the trimmings will be served beginning at 11 a.m. Full Story

Over 100 family members of special needs children came out for the 2nd annual Special Needs Family Fun Day at Rockdale Fair Park Pavilion Saturday. People attended from Caldwell, Milano, Thorndale, Rockdale and Cameron.
