Annual Deanville VFD barbecue, auction fund-raiser set October 10

DEANVILLE—The Deanville Volunteer Fire Department will hold its 33rd annual fund-raiser on Sunday, Oct. 10 at the fire station, corner of FM 111 and Hwy 60 in Deanville.

Pit barbecue (pork, beef, chicken, homemade sausage and red ring sausage) will be ready for sale at 7 a.m. Plate lunches of fried chicken with all the trimmings will be served beginning at 11 a.m.

A Country Store and Sweet Shop w ith homemade baked goods, tea and coffee will be open. Games and a train ride will be available for children. An auction will start at 2 p.m.

A washer tournament will start at 10 a.m., with registration to begin at 8 a.m. A drawing for prizes will be held during the auction.

“Everything will go as scheduled rain or shine,” said R.J. Smith, Deanville VFD president. “Our annual fund-raiser provides funds for insurance, new equipment and keeping the department running. Our fire station is used as a meeting place of various groups as well as social gatherings, so the support of everyone is needed and sincerely appreciated.”
