Reporter/ Cliff Dungan The Rockdale Lady Tigers had a tough go of it in unveiling the District 23-3A portion of their schedule, dropping their first two league contests.

Tuesday night at Tiger Gymnasium, the Lady Tigers battled for five games before falling to Smithville 25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 25-27, 26-14.

Senior Krista Phillips again covered the net for Rockdale with an impressive 13 kills, while also piling up four aces.

Katie Strelsky served up 16 aces, Hailey Offield dove for 15 digs, while Victoria Drake had aces and Lisa Vest and Jill Young three blocks apiece.

The JV lost 25-20, 25-19 and t he f reshmen fell 25- 9, 25- 17. The Lady Tigers dipped to 6-17 overall.

In the league opener, the Lady Tigers were tripped up by No. 16 Caldwell 25-9, 25-6, 25-16.

Phillips paved the way with four kills, three blocks and an ace.

Strelsky had seven assists, Mireles four digs and Offield an ace.

LeeAnn Simpson led the Lady Hornets (20-10) will 11 kills.

The JV fell 25-5, 25-9 and the freshmen lost 25-19, 25-27.

Rockdale hosts Giddings on Friday, then travels to No. 8 LaGrange on Tuesday to continue its league schedule.
