Rubio, Gerren running wild for Tigers cross country

Reporter/Bill Martin Rockdale runners Juan Rubio and Jacob Gerren continued to shine against some of the best runners in the state at the Cameron Invitational, with Rubio finishing eighth and Gerren 12th.

Rubio turned in a time of 16:23 on the three-mile course, while Gerren clocked in at 16:36. Don Graham of Copperas Cove was first with a time of 14:46.

Benito Castillo was 37th (18:21), Francisco Romo 46th (19:16) and Henry Hill 48th (19:27) as the Tigers finished seventh to Manor’s first.

On the girls side, Amy Pruett was 39th (14:59), Aubrie Litchauer 47t (15:32), Emily Norris 51st (15:38) and Sylvia Avila 57th (16:13).

Rubio took the overall first place trophy as well as first place in the 19 and under division at the 5th annual Run For the Kay 5K in Rockdale with a time of 17:43.

Gerren (19:18) was second, and Romo (21:05) was third.

Litchauer took the overall first place trophy as well as first place in the womens 19 and under with a time of 24:51.

Pruett was second and Norris finished fourth.

Milano

Justin Grimes led a contingent of Milano runners, finishing 53rd with a time of 20:39.

Trevor Gage was 58th (21:00), Wynton Thomason 78th (23:24) and Julie Paniagua 54th (17:50) in the girls division.

Thorndale

Thorndale also traveled to Cameron and placed fifth, while the girls were fourth. Cameron captured both divisions.

Kristen Butterworth placed eighth to pace the Lady Dogs with a clocking of 13:38.

Heather Butterworth was 25th (15:00), Tyler Gibson 32nd (15:47), Olivia Atkins (16:18), Brandi Munoz 51st (17:08) and Petra Garcia 55th (18:26).
