Fair time kicks off with early events Saturday
It’s time for the Rockdale Fair. This weekend is the beginning of the 35th Annual Rockdale Fair starting with the Children’s Pageant at the High School Auditorium at 9 a.m. on Oct. 9. Then at 4 p.m. is team roping at Fair Park and then at 7:30 p.m. is the Miss Rockdale Fair pageant, back at the High School Auditorium. What a great way to start the festivities. Full Story

RISD’s new baseball field lifts building permit total for Sept.
City building permits totaled $693,500 in September, bringing the 2010 total to $1,740,426.91.
Rockdale ISD’s new baseball field and building, being built by Bland Construction, was a majority of the month’s project costs at $597,000. The new complex is scheduled to be completed before this school year’s baseball season starts. Full Story
Big top a big hit in Thorndale
The Culpepper and Merriweather Circus was a big hit in Thorndale on Thursday. With two performances, the circus entertained young and old alike with thrilling trapeze artists, clown acts, juggling, wild tigers and acts of skill and balance. The fastpaced program was presented to standing room only crowds and was a delight to all who attended. Full Story
