Big top a big hit in Thorndale

The Culpepper and Merriweather Circus was a big hit in Thorndale on Thursday. With two performances, the circus entertained young and old alike with thrilling trapeze artists, clown acts, juggling, wild tigers and acts of skill and balance. The fastpaced program was presented to standing room only crowds and was a delight to all who attended.

The Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) would like to thank all those who attended the circus and all those who worked so hard to make it happen, especially the City of Thorndale and their employees. Also, we would like to thank Rodenbeck Farm and Ranch, Rockdale Federal Credit Union- Thorndale Branch and Downtown Cafe for their involvement in advance ticket sales and IESI for providing a dumpster for the event. We would also like to thank the following businesses for donating over fifty children’s passes, 25 of these going to Milam County Child Protective Services for deserving children: Accurate Inc., ACM Service, Alpha Omega Casework, Antique Queens, Armstrong Quality Moving, Arriba Scientific Inc., Autostate Inc./Stuart Ashman, B&M Tractor Parts Inc., BS Tires, Brushy Creek Bar.

Also, Centex Business Center, Cit y National Bank/Brenda Gola, Dave’s Heating and Air, Dav is Grocer y & Barbecue, Four Star Fabrication, Gardens Inc., Georgetown Instruments, Johnson Farm/Buddy Johnson, Pacific Superior Imports, Perry and Perry Builders.

A special thank you goes to those of you who shared your appreciation for bringing this family-friendly entertainment to town. As Carter Brymer, age 6, put it so kindly in his thank you card, “Can the circus start coming every year. And thank you for the circus. I rily liked the circus. Did you.” He also drew a picture of the “big top.” We at the TACC hope everyone enjoyed it as much as Carter.
