Drug bust nabs suspected dealer
Ivery Joe Williams, 60, was charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, more than 4 and less than 200 grams, a first-degree felony.
Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Donald Schuerman set bond at $75,000 and Williams remained in the county jail on Tuesday. Deputy Sheriff Chris White said the raid was the result of an ongoing investigation by the sheriff’s department’s Special Investigations Unit.
“Investigators were led to believe crack cocaine was being distributed from the residence,” White said.
At about 3 p.m. Friday, officers served a search warrant at Williams’ residence, 526 Rice.
White said during a search, more than nine grams of crack cocaine and several articles of drug paraphernalia, were recovered.
Taking part in the raid were sheriff’s deputies, DPS Cpl. David Yarbrough, Precinct 3 Constable Herbie Vaughan and Chief Thomas Harris and Officers Stephen Goodrich and Brandon Rieser of the Rockdale Police Department.
