Reporter/Mike Brown Kathryn Dodd, an, 17-year-old senior at Rockdale High School, was crowned Miss Rockdale Fair 2010 Saturday before a crowd of more than 600 in the Rockdale High School auditorium.

First runner-up at the annual pageant was Katie Strelsky and second runner-up was Britta Byrd.

Mistress of ceremonies was Ashley Melnick, Miss Texas 2010, who sang and introduced the nine contestants.

WINNERS— The new Miss Rockdale Fair Queen is the daughter of Eddie and Jana Dodd. She was sponsored by Wilson Tile & Stone. This year’s first runner-up is the daughter of Shane and Jennifer Strelsky and is a 17-year-old senior at Rockdale High School. She was sponsored by Antique Queens.

Floyd and Dawn Byrd are parents of the second runner-up, who is a 17-year-old senior at Rockdale High School. She was sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts.

The Miss Congeniality winner was Kaitlyn Wendland, daughter of Jennifer and Chris Juhl and a 17-year-old senior at Milano High School. She was sponsored by Noack Sand and Gravel.

Traci Fisher was presented the award for selling the most tickets.

Pageant director was Neva Caffey. Mrs. Caffey has been involved with all 33 Miss Rockdale Fair pageants. Assistants were Andrea Raymond and Kathryne Roddam.

MISS TEXAS— Billy Moreland, Rockdale Fair Association president, welcomed the crowd and introduced Melnick who presented the 17 contestants in western wear and evening attire.

Christy Betchan introduced new children’s pageant winners.

Blair introduced judges Gwen Coker, Doris Hinton, Andrew Thompson and Brandon Weber.

ENTERTAINMENT— Entertainment was by Denice Doss, Allyson Steinbecker and Emily McCoy.

Also performing were members of the RHS Golden Girls drill team.

Melnick, on behalf of pageant sponsors, expressed appreciation to the following: Rockdale Sports & Embroidery, Foster Hunting Ranch Pearce Loth, Charles Caf fey, Derek Caf fey, Austin Caf fey, Margaret Havel, Phyllis Denman, Kristi Moreland, Kathy Pelzel (programs).
