Flu shot clinics continue in Milam
Flu shot clinics, a service of the Milam County Health Department, continue this week in Rockdale and other locations.
The health department returns to the Knight of Columbus Hall, east of Rockdale on US 79, for a shot clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday. Full Story

Former Texas State Historian Dr. Frank de la Teja will be the keynote speaker when El Camino Real de los Tejas Nationa l Historic Trail Associat ion meets at Apache Pass Oct. 21.
Dr. de la Teja has published extensively on Spanish, Mexican and Republ ic-era Texas history. and has received numerous awards, including being named the f irst Texas State Histor ian in Texas in 2009. Full Story
MCAD lists procedure to defer tax payments
Texas homeowners may postpone paying the current property taxes on the appreciating value of their homes by taking advantage of a payment option, according to Pat Moraw, chief appraiser of the Milam County Appraisal District.
The method, called a “residence homestead tax deferral” involves filing a tax deferral affidavit at the appraisal district. Full Story

Buckholts gets first fire station
What a gift.
The iconic Texa Reporter
television show teamed up with Mueller Buildings, one of its sponsors, to build and donate a 4,000-square-foot fire station building to the Buckholts Volunteer Fire Department.
The building went up in a week thanks to volunteer workers from Mueller, and others, and it was donated in a Thursday afternoon ceremony. Full Story
