Ser v ices for James Lester Davis Sr., 66, of Thrall were held Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at Davilla Baptist Church with Rev. David Cox, Rev. Jon Hooser and Rev. Billy Ray Crow officiating. Burial was in Davilla Cemetery.

Mr. Davis died Saturday, Oct. 9, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 20, 1944, in Davilla to Lester “Peck” Davis and Laura Marie Cummings.

He married Juanita R. Smith on March 13, 1985, in Rockdale.

Mr. Davis was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from June 1962 to May 1966.

He was past president of Bartlett Youth League and served as Little League coach for 13 to 15- year-olds.

Mr. Davis enjoyed hunting, fishing and his tractors.

He was a Thrall resident for the past month and was formerly of Pandale.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Sue A shwor th; a granddaughter, Kellian Davis; and a grandson, Brooks Davis.

Survivors are his wife, Juanita R. Davis of Comstock; a son, James Lester Davis Jr. and wife Sheri of Texas City; three daughters, Rebecca Ann Hoffman of Clear Lake, Audrey Marie Stephens and husband Troy of Thrall, Tamara Leigh Head and husband Eric of Pandale; his mother, Laura Marie Davis of Davilla; two brothers, Greg Davis of Troy, Wayne Davis of Wichita, Kansas; four sisters, Marie Lovelace, Patricia Cargill and Melanie Davey, all of Davilla, Cynthia Davis of Round Rock; and his foster children, Adam Medina of Temple, Bobby Davis of Sharp, Craig and Kenny Norris of Cameron; also, 30 grandchildren.

Pa llbea rers were Cha rles Diver, Gary Ashworth, Timothy Walsch, John Jaeger, Leon Love and John Finto.

Honorary pallbearers were Joe Belicek, Keith Pajestka, Jamie Cargill, Jason Cargill, Justin Cargill, Chris Asbury and Brooks Davis.
