Graveside services for Dolores “Sissy” Gest, 77, of Rockdale were scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at the Milano Cemetery in Milano with Rev. Doug Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel Church officiating.

Mrs. Gest died Sunday, Oct. 10, in Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

She was born Jan. 9, 1933, in the Gay Hill community of Milam County to Alvie “Heavy” Blackmon and LuElla (Lewis) Blackmon.

She married Walter F. Gest on March 8, 1952, in Cameron.

Mrs. Gest was a lifelong Milam County resident and member of First Baptist Church in Milano.

She was active in all parent areas of school and children’s activities.

Mrs. Gest enjoyed cooking and yard work.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors are her husband, Walter F. Gest of Rockdale; two sons, Walter Ly nn Gest and wife Cindy of Red Oak, Timothy Gest and wife Elizabeth of Kilgore; three daughters, Belinda VonGonten of Rockdale, Gwen Moraga and husband Joe of Garland, Stacey Gest Martinez and husband Blaine of Carrollton; a brother, Glenn Blackmon and wife Rosemary of Houston; and 13 grandchildren, Chasti Gest of Irving, Jeramy Gest and wife Megan of Ferris, Brinkne Gest of Red Oak, Amy Michelle Herrin and husband Jake, Ryan Gest, all of Kilgore, Shane VonGonten and wife Sarah of Rockdale, Amanda VonGonten, Joshua VonGonten and wife Brittany, all of Rockdale, Jessica Topasna and husband Joshua, Joel Moraga and Jenifer Moraga, all of Garland, Blake Martinez and Corie Martinez, both of Carrollton; also, 20 greatgrandchildren.
