Nelson Nelson Services for Brady D. “Big Brady” Nelson, 78, of Rockdale were held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel in Rockdale with Rev. Doug Springer officiating. Burial followed in the Salty Cemetery near Thorndale.

Mr. Nelson died Wednesday, Oct. 6, at his home with his family.

He was born April 29, 1932, in Rockdale to Felix “Bud” and Addie (Powers) Nelson.

Mr. Nelson attended school in Salty and Rockdale.

In 1962, he and Barbara King were married in Rockdale.

Mr. Nelson was owner and operator of Brady’s Pest Control and a rancher until his retirement.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale and was a supporter of numerous local and civic organizations.

Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward Sexton and Buddy Nelson; and four sisters, Bertha Baker, Hazel Tucker, Edna Reid and Anita Whiteley.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara Nelson of Rockdale; a daughter, Kim Jones Leschber and husband Kenny of Rockdale; a son, Brady D. Nelson Jr. and wife Sherri; his grandchildren, Brenten Clyde Jones and w ife Stephanie of San Antonio, Blair Jones of College Station, Kathryn B. Nelson and Brady D. Nelson III both of Rockdale; his mother-in-law, Julia King of Rockdale; and an aunt, Elizabeth Powers of San Antonio; also, numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Brenton Clyde Jones, Blair Jones, Brady D. Nelson III, Keith Bean, Trey Baker, Bill Luckey and Barkley Garner.

Honorary pallbearers were Nathan Baker, Eddie Gerren, Floyd By rd, Rodney Spence, Judith Matula and Ronnie Wiley.
