THORNDALE—The Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce held a Meet the Candidate event Monday at the Chamber building.
Over fifty guests from all areas of Milam County heard candidates answer questions related to their office.
C a nd id ate s at tend i ng t he meeting, and the office they are seeking were: Gary Northcott, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4 (incumbent); Jeff Muegge and Nelson (Buddy) Johnson, County Commissioner, Precinct. 4; Julie Biar, Milam County Treasurer; David Barkemeyer and Frank Summers (incumbent), Milam County Judge.
‘Faith County’ newest RCP play production
Milam Community Theater’s next show is “Faith County,” “an hilarious look at small town Texas, count y fairs and true love,” according to Richard Stone, spokesman.
“Oh, and death. That’s in it, too,” he said.
The show, which is being staged at the Williams Civic Center in Cameron, opens Saturday Nov. 6 with MCT’s annual new member reception at 7 p.m. It begins at 8 p.m.
The theater’s board will introduce the 2011 season and season tickets will be available.
Additional performances of “Faith County” will be Sunday Nov. 7 at 2 p.m., Saturday Nov. 13 at 8 p.m.
The show closes with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Sunday Nov. 14.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students and will be available at the door.

Thorndale council okays sign regulation
THOR NDALE—City council members in Thorndale last Wednesday approved a variance to the city’s sign ordinance.
The variation allows advertising signs to be placed in the city limits with the stipulation the sign be limited to advertising only business located in the city limits and Thorndale ETJ.
In other business, council members:
• Designated the Thorndale Champion as the city’s official newspaper. .. .. r ai ls o n the east si de of Main Street downtown. • Approved the Thorndale Economic Development Corporation’s 2010-11 budget and an expenditure for park bleachers.
• Approved purchase of a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria patrol car from the Department of Public Safety.
Rockdale P&Z board to meet on Thursday
The Planning & Zoning Commission of the City of Rockdale will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday at City Hall.
Agenda items include a city council request to review and update the city’s Comprehensive Master Plan and two property requests.
MCAD directors set Thursday meeting
CAMERON—The Milam County Appraisal District (MCAD) board of directors will meet in regular session at 12:15 p.m. Thursday in the MCAD office.
Chief Appraiser Pat Moraw said agenda items include appointment of an appraisal review board (ARB) member and temporary ARB members, and considering a 2011 appraisal contract with capitol appraisal group.
