Traffic stop leads to drug arrest for police Monday
A routine traffic stop ended with the drug arrest of a 28-yearold Dallas man on Monday.
Lt. J. D. Newlin said Ofc. Dale Bekker originally stopped Tomas Alan Hubert for a traffic offense.
“Six ounces of marijuana was discovered,” Newlin said.
Hubert was charged with possession of marijuana (4 ounces to 5 pounds). Magistration was pending at presstime. Full Story

Sheriff’s deputies investigate four burglaries during week
The Milam County Sheriff’s Department was called to reports of four burglaries in various parts of the county during the past week.
Deputy Mike Hoyt was called to a break-in reported Oct. 12 on County Road 348 in the Gause area.

25-year sentence for shootout
A 23-year-old Milano man whom police say exchanged shots with a Rockdale police officer Nov. 23, 2009, drew a 25-year prison term last week in 20th District Court.
Prosecutor Kerry Spears said Erric Scott Anderson made an open plea to the court on a charge of aggravated assault of a peace officer with a deadly weapon, which empowered Judge Ed Magre to decide guilt and punishment. Full Story
