SUNDAY FIRE—

SUNDAY FIRE—A Rockdale couple fled their burning home just after midnight Saturday in a fire that kept volunteer firefighters on the scene, north of Cameron Avenue (US 79) for about five hours. Sharon Hobbs said she was awake reading a book and had smelled smoke for several minutes. “I thought a neighbor was burning something,” she said. “I got up and discovered flames.” Mrs. Hobbs and husband Billy were not injured. The RVFD responded at 12:46 a.m. “We have no idea what caused it,” she said.
