Fifteen lots sell to benefit FFA, 4-H exhibitors

Reporter/Mike Brown In a record-setting Rockdale Fair, the sixth annual commercial heifer show fit right in.

The sale raised $47,445 for 15 Milam County FFA and 4-H exhibitors. That compares to $33,200 in 2009.

“We doubled our number of entries this year,” Birdie Kristoff, show co-chair said.

“Once again our business community stepped up and supported these youngsters,” she added. “We cer ta in ly appreciate all their support over the past six years.”

Results were listed as follows:

Grand champion—Wesley Payne, Rockdale FFA, buyer, Custom Tack and Dennis Payne for $4,600, plus $300 added money, total $4,900.

Reserve champion—Colton Coufal, Cameron 4H, buyer, J&B Storage for $3,600, plus $160 added money, total $3,790.

Fourth place—Chandler Barton, Cameron 4-H, buyer, Cross Six Ranch, $3,400, plus $90 added money, total $3,490.

Fifth place—Kyrene Jackson, Thorndale 4-H, buyer, Petie Graham, $2,700, plus $115 added money, total, $2,815.

Sixth place—Keaton Denio, Cameron FFA, buyer, Todd and Linda King, $2,700, plus $140 added money, total, $2,840.

Seventh place—Jistol Walzel, Cameron 4-H, buyer, Worley’s Farm Service, $3,000, plus $390 added money, total, $3,390.

Eighth place—Jayci Denio, Cameron FFA, buyer Herbie Vaughan, $2,600, plus $140 added money, total $2,740.

Ninth place—Dillon Irwin, Thorndale FFA, buyer, Carol Marr, $2,600, plus $115 added money, total $2,715.

Tenth place—Jacob Barron, Thorndale 4-H, buyer, Harvey Holliman, $2,420, plus $275 added money, total $2,705.

Eleventh place—Erin Free, Rockdale FFA, buyer, Shanty Town Ranch, $1,950, plus $775 added money, total $2,725.

Twelfth place—Lane Niemtschk, Thorndale 4-H, buyer, Stanley Lawrence, $2,350, plus $190 added money, total, $2,540.

Thirteenth place—Ashleigh Paulsen, Thorndale 4-H, buyer, Petie Graham, $3,020, plus $135 added money, total $3,155.

Fourteenth place—Kaylee Jackson, Thorndale 4-H, buyer, Petie Graham, $2,500, plus $135 added money, total, $2,635.

Fifteenth place—Jale Walzel, Cameron Junior FFA, buyer, Jason and Sandy Wendler, $3,600, plus $290 added money, total $3,890.
