RVFD fire chief stepping down

Matous Matous Warren Matous, chief of the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department for the past three years, has stepped down from that position.

Matou s told The Reporter his resignation was effective last week.

“I’ve got a new job and it’s going to take me away from Rockdale a lot,” he said. “That’s the only reason. It’s certainly nothing to do with this fine department.”

“In fact there are times when I’ll be here and I’d still like to participate in the department as much as I’m able,” he added.

Ward Roddam has been appointed interim chief.

Matous said volunteer firefighters are scheduled to vote on electing a new fire chief during their Nov. 8 drill at the fire station.
