‘GOURD’-GEOUS!—

‘GOURD’-GEOUS!—Gause area resident Arnold Kornegay has sold many a gourd from his roadside stand alongside US 79 but never had one come back looking this way until last week. Artist Sylvia Gaines, returning from a show in Fredericksburg, stopped to show Kornegay what happens to some of his gourds. “She does all this with a hot iron, engraving patterns and putting colors and studs on,” he said. “It’s amazing.” Gaines gourd art can be seen at www.gainesgourds.com.
