Lady Tigers close out with win

Reporter/Cliff Dungan The Rockdale Lady Tigers closed out the 2010 season on a high note with another victory over Navasota.

The Lady Tigers end the year at 8-23 overall and 2-10 in District 23-3A play.

In a struggle, Rockdale battled back from behind for a 19-25, 20- 25, 25-19, 25-20, 15-11 win.

Leading the way was Victoria Drake with 15 kills and two blocks, aided by Katie Strelsky’s 22 assists and four assists.

Hailey Offield chipped in four digs, while Jill Young blocked two shots.

The junior varsity lost 25-5, 25-11 and the freshmen won 25- 23, 25-18.

Friday, Rockdale was tripped up by LaGrange in straight sets 25-19, 25-11, 25-8.

Katie Strelsky paved the way with six kills, followed by Bailey Pannell’s five digs, Young’s three kills and three blocks and Krista Phillips three kills apiece, Lisa Vest’s three blocks and Marissa Mireles’ three service aces.

The junior varsity lost 25-4, 25-8 and the freshmen 21-25, 25-22, 25-23.
