Christmas Roundup to organize Nov. 11th

Christmas Roundup, Rockdale’s annual holiday distribution of toys, food and blankets, will organize for 2010 in a 6 p.m. Nov. 11 meeting at the MARC Center.

Ann King, spokesperson, said anyone interested in helping is urged to attend the meeting.

Stash the Trash’ day scheduled Nov. 13th

The City of Rockdale’s fall cleanup “Stash the Trash” day is set for 8 a.m. to 12-noon Saturday, Nov. 13, at Fair Park.

“That’s a change from previous cleanup days which have been held at the city’s Mill Street facilities,” City Manager Kelvin Knauf said.

Knauf said roll-off trash containers and the city’s wood chipper will be on had.

“We will not accept any oil or hazardous materials,” Knauf said.

“We’ll have more information on Stash the Trash Day next week,” he said

Fifth Buddy Oney Run ahead December 5th

The fifth annual Buddy Oney Toy Run will be held Dec. 4 at The Ranch with proceeds and toys go to Milam County Child Protective Services and Rockdale Christmas Round up.

Charles Starr, organizer, said registration begins at 10 a.m. with the first bike out at 11.

Fee is $15 per rider or $20 with a passenger, or a new toy valued at $20, he said.

Starr said the fee will include food after the ride for all participants.

Short sleeve T-shirts will be on sale for $20 the day of the run while long sleeve T-shirts will be available by pre-order only for $25, he said.

Deadline to order is Nov. 21 by calling Cynthia at (512)-698- 2784, Starr said.

Stops will be at Brushy Creek Bar in Thorndale, Pancho and Lefty’s in Hare, Cliff’s Tavern in Rockdale, Charlie’s Bar in Lexington, Nat’s in Milano.

CrimeStoppers raises $8,132 from ‘Horrors’

Milam County Crime Stoppers raised $8,132 from its two-night Halloween House of Horrors last week in Cameron, according to Constable Heith Kemper.

“Total ticket sales for the two nights were 1,282, combined adult and children,” he said.

“The CrimeStoppers board appreciates the support from the public,” Kemper said.

The 2010 event was CrimeStoppers 12th annual House of Horrors.

Trustee leadership session ahead Monday

Rockdale ISD trustees will meet for a school board workshop at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Central Administration Building, according to Dr Howell Wright, superintendent.

Only agenda item is a leadership development team-building session trustees, he said.

Airport committee to mull master plan

The city’s Airport Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, according to City Manager Kelvin Knauf.

The board will consider and act on developing a master plan for H. H. Coffield Regional Airport, he said.

Other agenda items for consideration and action are discussion of runway length, additional hangars, additional land, a visiting pilots facility and lighting improvements, all carrying the qualifier “if necessary” on the agenda.

Trustee leadership session ahead Monday

Utility crews from the City of Rockdale will flush water lines the night of Nov. 17, according to City Manager Kelvin Knauf.

Crews will flush lines on both the eastern and western sides of Rockdale, he said.

K nauf reminded Rockdale water customers to take the usual precautions the morning after flushing.

“Run your cold water taps a few minutes to clear the lines,” he said.
