Reception for Professor Rollyson Thursday at library
Denice Doss
Last week was my birthday and it was a great week. I had calls, emails, cards and gifts. There is nothing like a birthday to make you feel special. And the age I am celebrating doesn’t even matter because it is such a good life that I am happy to be right where I am. So thank you to all who sent me my birthday greetings. And I have two birthday “sisters” that I share the day with—Wenda Dyer and Evelyn Little. What fun.

This Thursday we have a reception at the Library at 6 p.m. to meet with Professor Carl Rollyson. Professor Rollyson will be talking about research he has done on the actor, Dana Andrews. It should be an enjoyable evening. And if any of you have family who has talked about when Pastor Andrews was in Rockdale, Professor Rollyson would like to hear from you. The reception is open to the public. Hope to see you there.

As many of you have heard we have an exciting possibility of a new venture coming into the Rockdale area. All the bugs have not been worked out yet and we are waiting to hear all of the details but the most encouraging thing to me is that something is being done and Rockdale will recover and come out stronger than ever before. So stay tuned for more details as they unveil but know that people are working to make things better for our town. I can’t wait.

On Friday, Nov. 5 we have a ribbon cutting for Busy Bea Restaurant at 10 a.m. Go by and eat with Donnie and Becky in the old Kountry Inn Restaurant, now Busy Bea.

The Development District of Central Texas is hosting a Business Expo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12 in Belton. The cost of the meeting is $10 for lunch and the lineup of speakers include Bob Carlson of the Small Business Development Center in Temple, Marcus Carr of the Central Texas Business Center, and Herbert Austin—the District Director of Business Administration in Dallas and Gilbert Gonzales of the Texas Rural Innovators. This will give some good advice to businesses. For more details call the Chamber at 446-2030.

Until next time I leave you with this.......The main ingredient of stardom is the rest of the team.
