Lady Eagles advance to regional quarterfinals

Milano will face old rival RTC

LULING-It took four sets, but the Milano Lady Eagles volleyball team out lasted the Sabinal Lady Jackets 3-1 to win the area championship and advance to the regional quarterfinals for the third straight season.  The Lady Eagles advance to take on old rival Round Top-Carmine on Tuesday at Brenham High School in the third round of the postseason.  Game time has not been set.

The last time Milano and the Cubettes met in the playoffs was in the 2005 UIL state tournament.  The Lady Eagles took that marathon, five-set match to advance to the state title game that year.  It was the first time in many years it was not a RTC-Windthorst state title game. Windthorst did beat Milano in the finals.

The winner of Thursday's Milano-RTC game will advance to the Region IV tournament semifinals to be held at Brenham High School on Friday, Nov. 12 at 5 p.m.
