Tigers are playoff bound

Rockdale routs Caldwell; Milano gets in with win over Granger
With the entire season on the line, the Rockdale Tigers took control of their own destiny and defeated the Caldwell Hornets 38-15 Friday night at Tiger Field.  That win, along with a Navasota victory over Giddings in another District 23-3A showdown, lifted Rockdale into the postseason for the fourth consecutive season.  The Tigers, the district’s second seed in the Division II bracket, will face Columbus at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12 at Merrill Green Stadium in Bryan.
Milano will head to the postseason for the first time since 2007 as the Eagles blasted Granger 40-20 Friday at Pruett Field in the regular-season finale for both District 13-A Division II teams.  Milano will be the district runner’s up and will play the High Island Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12 at Giddings High School. These two teams met in the area round 10 years ago where the Cardinals won the game on the last play.
Other area teams advancing to the state football playoffs include Lexington, Cameron and Buckholts.  It will be the first time in 13 years since Buckholts has been in the postseason.
