The recently-opened Comfort Inn hotel of Rockdale is already taking home its first award for the property’s outstanding efforts.

The hotel has been named Rookie of the Year, which serves to recognize the newest properties in the Choice family that have hit the ground running since opening their doors. The award is part of the Awards for Property Excellence (APEX) awards program by Choice Hotels International, Inc., franchisor of the Comfort brand.

As a recipient of the Rookie of the Year APEX award, the Rockdale Comfort Inn hotel has not only demonstrated the commitment to excellence required of this award but has also received high qualifying marks on hotel inspections, guest satisfaction scores and hotel training. The hotel is now part of a select Rookie of the Year award-winning group of 16 other Choicebrand hotels nationwide.

“Recipients of APEX awards have provided great guest care and demonstrated a commitment to providing top-notch hospitality,” said Stephen P. Joyce, president and chief executive officer, Choice Hotels International. “The individuals and teams that received this honor should be extremely proud of their achievements.”

The Rockdale hotel was inspected by Choice Hotels last August, earning a “exceptional” score in cleanliness and brand standards, hotel manager Micky Patel said. That is why the hotel was nominated for the award.
