A Horton returns to Milano—50 years later
Tommy Horton’s father rolled into Milano 50 years ago Friday night, but he didn’t come out alive.
That was, of course, the legendary Johnny Horton, country music superstar who lost his life on Milano’s old railroad viaduct when his Cadillac was struck by a drunken college student. The date was Nov. 5, 1960. Full Story

Former radio shop on Main Street reborn
When radio was high-tech Rockdale had a legendar y radio shop, at 227 North Main.
The radios are gone but the address again boasts a business, the culmination of anther dedicated effort by a Rockdale husband-and-wife team who are doing their best to preserve the town’s history, one building at a time. Full Story

Turkey time is around the corner, do it right
It is time to think about cooking your turkey for the holiday meals and safety is important. Start with proper thawing of your turkey. The best way to thaw a turkey is in the refrigerator. Place frozen bird in original wrapper in the refrigerator (40ºF or below). Allow approximately 24 hours per 4 to 5 pounds of turkey. A thawed turkey can remain in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.
