Brown

Services for Elbert Brown, 88, of Rockdale were held Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at Forest Grove Christian Church in Forest Grove with Pastor Andrew Pandofi and Pastor Brandon Navarre officiating. Burial was in Forest Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Brown died Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.

He was born Dec. 28, 1921, in Karnes City to Hervey and Sophie (Andrews) Brown.

Mr. Brow n wa s ra ised in Pleasant Grove and lived all of his life there and in Rockdale.

He married Rubye Ellen Spence on Sept. 21, 1946, in Georgetown.

Mr. Brown was a retired security guard for Alcoa and was a member of Forest Grove Christian Church.

He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Nav y, and was a member of Rockdale VFW Post No. 6525.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Frank Daniel Brown; a sister, Edith M. Grubbs; and his parents.

Sur v ivors are a son, Ber t Brown and w ife Joan of San Antonio; two grandchildren, Dr. James E. Brown and wife Jennifer, Tara Brown Pandofi and husband Pastor Andrew Pandofi; three great-grandchildren, Bailey Brynn Pandofi, Andrew Kaleb Pandofi and Jacob Colin Brown; and a brother, William H. Brown and wife Chris of Corpus Christi.

Pallbearers were Hollis Spence, Lange Spence, Gary Spence, Robert Bingham, Sandy Brown and Michael Brown.
