Walzel

CAMERON—Funeral services for Joseph “Joe” Walzel, 70 of Cameron were held Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Doug Budd officiating. Burial followed in Walzel Family Cemetery near Cameron.

Mr. Walzel died Tuesday, Nov. 2, in a Houston hospital.

A retired rancher and farmer, he was born Jan. 9, 1940, in Cameron to Emil Joseph and Annie Magdalene (Richter) Walzel.

He married Frances Vogelsang on Nov. 26, 1969.

Mr. Walzel was a Texas A&M graduate with a bachelor of science degree.

He taught agriculture at Caldwell ISD and worked for Purina for many years. He also was involved in custom farming and baling.

Mr. Walzel was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as elder.

He ser ved on t he Sa lem- Elm Ridge Water Board and as chairman of the Milam County Appraisal District.

Mr. Walzel was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Josse Ray Walzel and Candace Nicole Wise, and two sisters, Anita Walzel and Eugenia Turner.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Walzel of Cameron; three sons, Curtis Byron Wise of Flower Mound, Kyle Joe Walzel and wife Jennifer of Allen, Joel William Walzel and wife Mandy of Cameron; and two daughters, Franci Joella Denio and husband Randy of Cameron, Amy Gayle Kaase and husband Greg of College Station; also, 15 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Joe Walzel Scholarship Fund at Citizens National Bank or to First Presbyterian Church in Cameron.
