Still ‘deer season’ on area roads for Milam drivers

It continues to be “deer season” in the Rockdale area for South Milam County drivers as the fifth and sixth vehicle-deer collisions in the past two weeks were recorded during the past sevenday reporting period.

Trooper Donald Delukie said a vehicle driven by J. T. Dotson, 82, of Kingsland, was in collision with a deer at 10:30 a.m. Saturday on US 79 in Milano.

Delukie said Dotson was not injured and termed damages as moderate.

No injuries, and moderate damages, were reported at 8 p.m. Saturday in another vehicle-deer collision, according to Trooper Erik Gaston.

Driver was listed as Barr y Briggs, 48, of Rockdale.

Gaston said the accident was on US 79 west of Rockdale.

Four vehicle-deer accidents were reported between Nov. 3 and 7, ranging from US 79 near Gause FM 2116 near Rockdale.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
