Dean

Funeral services for Christine Dean, 88, were held Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home. Burial followed in Minerva Cemetery in Minerva. Elder Gary Jackson and Minister Ray Don McIntosh officiated.

Mrs. Dean died Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Manor Oaks Nursing Home with her family at her side.

She was born May 18, 1922, in Minerva to Levi Davis and Martha Anne (Grabein) Jenkins.

She married Harvey Dean Sr. on Dec. 25, 1952, in Minerva.

A life long Minerva resident, Mrs. Dean was a homemaker and had also worked in Rockdale as a sales clerk for May Fair, Vogels Variety, Vera’s Dress Shop and Bill’s Dollar Store.

She was a member of Murray Street Church of Christ.

Mrs. Dean enjoyed gardening, working in the flower beds, going antiqueting, garage sales and driving anything with wheels. She wrote several poems that were published, wrote songs and loved her family and friends.

Mrs. Dean was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Sr. on Feb. 21, 1999; her parents; and three brothers, A.J., J.W. and Paul A. Jenkins.

Survivors are three sons, Walter Dean and wife Brenda, Harvey Dean Jr. and wife Deborah, James “Tiny” Dean and wife Susan, all of Minerva; seven grandchildren, Kristi Hammack and husband Monty, LeAnn Simpson and husband Jeramie, John Dean, Dex Dean and wife Kendra, Dillon Dean, William Dean and Patrick Dean; five great-grandchildren, Qyn, Shelby, Chesnee, Taylor and Kate; and her long time care giver, Frances Jenkins.

Pallbearers will be John Dean, Dex Dean, Dillon Dean, William Dean, Patrick Dean, Kevin Jenkins.
