Links between Komen, Planned Parenthood
On Nov. 7, I walked in my first Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
I was with 70-plus others on the team Jonell’s Jewels. Jonell Turner was a great friend who died the day after our Cancer Survivor’s Retreat in 2009.

Veterans Day in Rockdale was truly an honor to witness all the events that were so carefully planned and organized to honor our Veterans of Rockdale and the surrounding areas.

Congregation says ‘thanks for paved road’
Many, thanks to the city for new paved street, Coffield Street, in front of First Presbyterian Church.
We are proud of our 56-yearold building and grounds.

Three-year streak for Laurence family
Thanks to everyone who took the time to do nice things for so many other people in regard to the Rockdale Sports Hall of Honor Banquet earlier this month.
My son and grandson came with me to the banquet.
In 2008, when my brother, Donnie, and my father, Ernie, went to the Hall, Donnie won the raffle for the football at the game. Full Story
Texas fourth in nation for hunger statistics
Hunger happens 24/7 In Texas.
According to AARP Magazine, Texas has the nation’s fourth highest hunger rate for people over 50, 8.9 percent, exceeded only by Mississippi, Arkansas and South Carolina.
The national average is 5.7 percent. Full Story
Honor appreciated by Tom Black family

‘Gutless’ person left dog in rural area
Yesterday a little dog crawled into my lap and in no time he got under my skin, but we are already feeding too many such abandoned mouths.
I tried all afternoon, without success, to find him a home but first handed him over to animal control to be destroyed. Full Story
Family says ‘thanks’ for benefit support
