Date set for annual Christmas parade

It’s time to get your ideas ready for floats and more as it’s almost time for the annual Milano Christmas parade and meal. The event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 11. Parade line up is at 9:30 a.m. at the Charlie Martin City Park with kickoff at 10:30.

The parade will circle through tow n, around the Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church and end at the Milano Civic Center/Fire Station. Santa will be on the stage in the Civic Center to visit with children after the parade.

Christmas dinner, sponsored by the City of Milano, will be served immediately following the parade in the Civic Center at no charge. Plaques and cash prizes will be awarded for first through fourth places in the parade. Winners will be announced in the Civic Center after the parade.

The city’s Christmas decoration contest will be judged on Saturday, Dec. 18 starting at 7 p.m. Be sure to have your homes decorated and Christmas lights on. Plaques and cash prizes will awarded for first through fourth places at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20 at the Milano Civic Center.

Milano schools released students on Tuesday, Nov. 23 for Thanksgiving holidays. Classes will resume at regular times on Monday, Nov. 29.

Family and friends gathered at the Milano Community Center on Sunday afternoon to surprise Milano postmaster Sue Davenport for her 60th birthday. Thanks Glenda, Kathy and Maggie.

Milano’s football team ended its season on Friday night in Austin, falling to the Fall City Beavers in area round action. We are so proud of the Eagles on a great and fun season.

Milano First Baptist Church will host a Christmas Bazaar at the church from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. Contact the church office for more information on setting up a booth to sell items.

The production class at Milano High School will present its fall show on Monday, Dec. 6 at the MHS cafetorium. Curtain will rise on the one time only performance of “The Brother’s Grimm Spectaculathon” at 7 p.m. Admission prices are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and students.

There are many in our community that are ill or sick. Please keep them in your prayers.
