RELAY FOR LIFE

Relay For Life sets holiday fund-raisers

The Relay For Life of Milam County will participate in Christmas activities in both Rockdale and Cameron on the Dec. 3-4 weekend, according to event chair Kim Jeter.

Luminaries, in honor of survivors and those lost to cancer will be on sale at the Christmas stroll in Rockdale on Friday, Dec. 3. The lighted bags are $5 each and names will be kept and a new bag made for the actual Relay event in Spring 2011.

The luminaries will be placed around the Christmas tree at Wolf Park rather than along the sidewalk on Cameron Avenue. They will do a “roll call” and announce the names of the individuals honored or remembered with a luminary at 6:15 p.m., Jeter said.

The group will walk in the Cameron parade on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 4. Survivors, caregivers, team captains and team members or just anyone who wants to support Relay can participate. They will be lining up at 8:45 a.m. at Main and Orchard in Cameron, Jeter said. All are asked to wear purple.

They will also have an arts and crafts booth set up from 9 a.m. until noon to hand out information about Relay and will also be selling Relay ornaments.
