Thorndale Christmas events set Saturday in downtown

By DARLENE TUCKER
Thorndale Chamber Secretary
The Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) held their monthly meeting on Nov. 23 at the chamber building in Thorndale. The upcoming Christmas Parade is set for 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. Parade cochairs Donna Harris and Deana Caffey noted that the parade will again include the Shriners mini-motor cars as well as local f loats, out of town f loats and other entries.

Parade entries will line up down Michalk Street by noon and will be judged before the parade. Ribbons will be awarded as the entries pass the announcer’s stand. Sarah Lincoln, our Outstanding Citizen for 2009, will be the Parade Marshall for 2010.

David Hall and James Dreyer will emcee the event with music provided by Danny Hernandez. For more information on the parade, please contact Harris at 512-898-2427 or Caffey at 512- 898-5189.

Santa will make his appearance again this year and will be available for photos with children in the chamber building before and after the parade. Also included in this year’s event will be a silent Auction with items from businesses and others in Thorndale. For more information on the silent auction please contact Darleen Tucker at 512-898-2727.

Another attraction will be the arts and crafts vendor booths located on either side of FM 486 South in the downtown area. For more information on booths and to reserve a space for $15, please contact Lily Dennis at Country Roads Emporium at 512-898- 2121.

Another feature during the holiday season will be a ham give-away sponsored by local merchants. Visit area merchants during the week to see what they have to offer for your holiday gift giving and sign up for a ham. The hams will be given away after the parade on Dec. 4. For questions regarding the ham giveaway you may contact Sarah Lincoln at 512-898-2163.

During the monthly meeting the TACC heard reports on business development in the area, an update on the Thorndale City Council meeting regarding the city jail project and elected Dawn Sizemore the TACC treasurer.
