Police probe burglary of home, $200 taken

Rockdale police are investigating a burglary of a Marshall Street home, reported during the past week.

Lt. J. D. Newlin said a window was kicked in and $200 in cash was taken.

Police are also investigating a theft of $200 reported taken from a pair of pants at a separate residence.

OFFENSES— Other offense investigations begun during the past week include assault, criminal mischief and several traffic offenses.

ARRESTS— There were no felony arrests made during the past week by the Rockdale Police Department.

Police served seven warrants, two for driving while license invalid and one each for no driver’s license, expired MVI sticker, possession of alcohol/motor vehicle, unrestrained child and failure to appear.

WRECK— No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle collision at 2:15 p.m. Sunday at the US 77-US 79 intersection near the eastern city limits,

Drivers were listed as Kenneth Smith of Gause and Sharadon Lester, of Corpus Christi.

Damages were termed moderate by police.

CITATIONS— Citations issued during the past week included 36 for speeding, 10 for no MVI sticker, nine each for failure to maintain financial responsibility and operating a vehicle with expired license plates, four for driving while license invalid, two each for disregarding official traffic control device and no driver’s license and one each for expired driver’s license, no seat belt, running stop sign and a parking violation.

SERVICE CALLS— Officers responded to 153 total calls for service during the week, and 85 through the 911 system.

A reward of up to $1,000 may be paid for arrest and conviction of persons responsible for crimes.
