Sale Friday, Saturday to aid MARC expansion

Rockdale’s MARC Center will hold a craft sale at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, and at 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 at Rockdale Signs & Photography, across West Cameron Avenue from the police station.

“This event will be the first fundr to help with the expansion of the MARC Center and will be part of Rockdale’s Chr istmas activ ities this weekend,” said Ann King, MARC president.

“Ten years ago when we completed the new MARC Center on Pecos Street, we never dreamed that we would be needing a larger building because we had built a facility more than double the size of the old building,” King said. “But our enrollment has almost doubled in these 10 years and we are anticipating that we will continue to grow.”

“We realize this is not the best of times to begin a fund-raising camp but the MARC board and families served by the Center decided we need to begin our expansion efforts,” she said.

“The people who attend the MARC Center day program for adults with special needs, MARC board members, families and friends of the MARC Center have, for a few months, made items for sale to support our expansion,” King said. “These items include Christmas ornaments, Christmas trees for outdoor use, cookies in a jar, bird feeders and homemade snacks, candies and more.”

“This event will be a great opportunity to buy Christmas presents and support a worthy cause and we hope the community will support our efforts,” she said.
