Lady Dogs ranked 18th in state poll

The Thorndale Lady Dogs are catching the attention of pollsters again and the 7-2 team is ranked No. 18 in Class 2A in the most recent Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll.

They had been a mainstay there the last five years in the Class A ranks.

Thorndale won on the road in Rosebud-Lott Tuesday by a score of 56-37.

Mirah Knapek pumped in 14 points, followed by Katy Bransom’s 11 and Alix Hoffman’s 10.

Pr ior to the Thanksgiv ing break, the Lady Dogs downed old district foe Granger on the road 75-22. Hoffman led the team with 19 points, followed by Marlene Hall with 18 and Tamicka Cook with 15.

Thorndale’s varsity will participate in the Rockdale tournament this weekend and will be on the road again Tuesday, Dec. 7 at Smithville. The team will return home to host Burnet on Dec. 10 before beginning District 27-2A play against Lexington.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
